HFSE Leadership Journey: From Geophysicist to School Leader

From Geophysicist to Assistant Principal: Meet Ms. Chandana

A Journey of Purpose, Leadership, and Growth at HFSE

Ms. Chandana’s leadership journey to becoming Assistant School Principal at HFSE International School reflects a story of purpose, growth, and trust. Before entering the field of education, she worked as a geophysicist. In that role, she studied patterns beneath the earth and developed strong analytical thinking. Over time, she chose to apply these skills in a different way by understanding people and nurturing potential.

A Transition with Intention

Her move into education was not sudden. Instead, it was a thoughtful and intentional decision. She shifted from studying physical layers of the earth to guiding the development of young learners. As a result, her approach to education combines structure, insight, and empathy.

At HFSE, her journey has been built on trust. Each new responsibility came through the confidence that the community placed in her. Step by step, she grew into leadership with quiet consistency and dedication.

What Shaped Her as a Leader

Ms. Chandana shares that her most meaningful experiences were not defined by academic milestones. Instead, they came from real interactions with people. Conversations with students, discussions with parents, and collaboration with teachers shaped her understanding of leadership.

These moments taught her that education is centred on relationships. Therefore, leadership in a school environment requires empathy, patience, and clarity.

She also expresses deep gratitude for the mentors she encountered at HFSE. These leaders supported her growth with care and guidance. They encouraged her to pause when needed and focus on long term development. She values leadership that supports growth rather than seeking recognition, as this builds confidence in a steady and meaningful way.

Leading with Vision and Purpose

As she steps into her role as Assistant School Principal, Ms. Chandana focuses on strengthening the partnership between school and home. She values the trust that families place in HFSE and believes that every child deserves to feel supported and understood.

Her vision extends beyond academic achievement. She aims to create an environment where students feel seen, challenged, and encouraged to grow into their best selves.

| “I look forward to walking alongside our students as they discover their strengths, overcome setbacks, and grow into individuals who are not afraid to try again.”

Building Community Through the House of Leagues

One of Ms. Chandana’s key initiatives is the House of Leagues. This programme was designed not only for competition, but also to build belonging, teamwork, and leadership among students.

Through this initiative, students develop school pride and learn to support one another. They also experience both success and setbacks in a healthy way. As a result, they build resilience and character that will guide them beyond the classroom.

The House of Leagues reflects a larger goal. It strengthens unity and creates a shared identity within the HFSE community.
